Facilitator & Service Leader
If you are having a Bar/Bat Mitzvah outside of the traditional synagogue context, Julie can serve as the facilitator of the ritual.
In her role as facilitator, she provides support and consultation to parents. She will help you understand the process of preparing for and organizing the ritual elements of an independent bar/bat mitzvah. She knows how to obtain ritual objects such as the Torah scroll and the Ark, can connect you to experienced instrumentalists, and will recommend potential sites for the ritual.
She helps you design the service including the assignment of honors, the writing of a parental blessing, the selection of scriptural reading and more. She can prepare the Bar/Bat Mitzvah student for his/her role and coaches parents in ritual skills, as well.
She conducts a run-through of the service in the weeks leading up to the ritual so that all your family members can feel comfortable in their roles and responsibilities. She also rehearses any instrumentalists who may play in the ceremony and arrives in plenty of time to help with last-minute details.
Many families like to take on a community service or “mitzvah” project to add meaning to the preparation for a Bar/Bat Mitzvah. Julie can help you devise the right plan for your family to help make the world a better place.
